Two Unique Approaches Crowdsourced Marketing

Two top brands launched campaigns on Zooppa's crowdsourcing platform last week. Both employ crowdsourcing best practices to help them execute larger marketing activities, yet each campaign utilizes the platform in a unique way.

Harry Potter music contest on ZooppaWB Games brings Harry Potter™ to Zooppa to promote the upcoming release of the magical franchise's Xbox Kinect™ video game. The campaign aims to crowdsource an original musical score from fans, allowing them to play a significant role in the world of Harry Potter™.  The winning soundtrack will be featured in the game's globally distributed trailer and we’re promised that the winner will be “the envy of Muggles™ the world over.

AllRecipes takes a different approach to crowdsourcing content with their Firehouse Cooks campaign. The social network for recipes is asking videomakers to connect with firefighters in their communities and document a behind-the-scenes look at how America’s bravest live, cook, and eat when they’re not saving lives.   Recognizing that America’s fire stations often are examples of family cooking at its finest, AllRecipes plans to align the branded content produced through its campaign with their brand’s vision of focusing on what people “are making on a Wednesday night” – i.e. nothing “high-brow” or gourmet, just great food.

The Harry Potter™ and AllRecipes campaigns provide two great examples of how brands are innovatively crowdsourcing to meet the growing consumer demand for content and engagement.  Furthermore, these two campaigns demonstrate the range and diversity of marketing activities that can be enhance through an effective crowdsourcing platform.

  • Whether it’s musical scores, branded video, commercials or print ads, crowdsourcing websites that accommodate a variety of formats can serve as an ongoing one-stop-shop and partner for a marketer’s advertising content needs.
