Why You Should Be Visualizing, Maximizing, and Crowdsourcing Content
There is no doubt that the adoption of social media has become increasingly mainstream, but lately a leveling off of growth is occurring. Tactics that marketers once used to connect to and attract audiences to their social media channels are shifting to emphasize consumer engagement while focusing on converting fans into consumers. In a saturated landscape, connecting to consumers relies heavily on the quality of content marketers are producing. As a result, quality content becomes the driving force behind major marketing objectives.
Social media audiences don’t want to be sold; they want to make a connection. In fact, a staggering 98% of users don’t trust the Internet. Quality content that is valuable to the consumer and evokes an emotional connection will attract them, and in turn will establish trust and loyalty to the brand.
Today, value is being generated through use of visual content. Visual content impacts and enhances marketing strategies across all channels of social media. While written content can be entertaining and informing, great visuals entice an audience, facilitates sharing, generates hype, and leaves them wanting more.
The instantaneous sharing of knowledge has resulted in a society which yearns for an immediate emotional connection. Consequently, our attention comes at a high price. For visuals to be effective, they have to be unlike anything else an audience has ever seen. Far too often good content falls into an abyss of online information; having visual content that demands attention, provides identity and drives engagement will set a brand apart from the rest.
But creating content is HARD. So, here are three unique concepts to consider when creating visual content:
Visualize Written Content. Change the way you think about written content. Create attractive visuals that are memorable and consistent. Visual branding immediately differentiates one brand from another and resources like SlideShare make visual storytelling unique and effective.
Maximize Visual Online Opportunities. Utilizing video has proven to be a successful media strategy in storytelling. We are able to tell the best stories through real-time engagement and in the most entertaining and interesting ways. For example, Siemens AG, a global leader in environmental technology partnered with Zooppa which landed them over 6 hours of passionate and authentic human experiences about the everyday challenges of mass mobility, commercial development and urban growth. Powerful messages were created by using video content as a tool for city-dwellers to tell their stories in an extremely personal way.
Crowdsource Visual Content. Of course you are passionate about what you do! But better yet, there are consumers out there that are just as passionate about what you provide. Who better to illustrate your story than your consumer? Crowdsourcing content not only generates a variety of content ideas, but can lead to brand loyalty and trust.
Visual content marketing must immediately attract, engage, and retain an audience that may otherwise be quick to jump ship if they only experience your brand through text-heavy content.
